This is a working version of our Terms. It is under legal review and may be updated before or shortly after launch.
1. Acceptance of terms
These Terms govern your access to and use of JanusLab (the "Platform"), operated by JANUSLAB ("JanusLab", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a binding contract under Indian law to use the Platform.
3. What JanusLab is — and is not
JanusLab is an educational and research tool for backtesting, strategy building, simulation (paper trading) and market-data visualisation for Indian markets. JanusLab is not a stockbroker, exchange, portfolio manager, investment adviser, or research analyst, and is not registered with SEBI in any such capacity. Nothing on the Platform constitutes investment advice, a research report, a recommendation, or a solicitation to buy or sell any security. We do not provide trading tips or manage money. All decisions you make are your own.
4. Simulated and historical results
Backtests and paper trading are hypothetical simulations run on historical or delayed data. They do not represent actual trades, may not account for all real-world costs, slippage or liquidity, and past or simulated performance does not indicate or guarantee future results. Markets carry a high risk of loss.
5. Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of your registration details and for keeping your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use.
6. Broker connection and third parties
The Platform integrates with your Zerodha / Kite account (and, in future, other brokers) to retrieve market data. Your use of any broker is governed by that broker's own terms; JanusLab is not responsible for broker availability, data accuracy, or broker actions. You authorise JanusLab to access your broker data solely to provide the Platform's features.
7. Subscriptions, billing and refunds
Paid plans are billed in advance through our payment processor (Razorpay) at the prices shown at purchase. Introductory discounts apply only for the stated period, after which standard pricing applies. Taxes apply as per law. Unless required by law or expressly stated, fees are non-refundable. You may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to: (a) misuse, overload, or attempt to disrupt the Platform or its data sources; (b) scrape, resell, or redistribute data or features; (c) reverse-engineer the Platform except as permitted by law; (d) use the Platform to provide investment advice or regulated services to third parties; or (e) use it for any unlawful purpose.
9. Intellectual property
The Platform, its software, content and branding are owned by JanusLab or its licensors. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Platform for your personal, non-commercial purposes under these Terms.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, JanusLab is not liable for any trading losses, lost profits, or indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify JanusLab against claims arising from your misuse of the Platform or breach of these Terms.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these Terms or to comply with law. You may stop using the Platform at any time and request account closure.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms; material changes will be notified in-app or by email. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at Ranchi, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
